I just made this, it’s in the oven. I used fresh blueberries, it looks like it may have been too many for the 8×8 I’m thinking… Lol, the amount of crumb is as much as the batter! I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely delish…

I just saw your response when looking for the recipe for the 5th time. This time it is because an American friend missing home wants some. He too has other fond memories of the cake and reminisces about his first bakery job where he was paid in baked goods to run errands. I also have a friend from New Jersey who tried this recipe and said it took her straight back to a Jewish bakery in NJ where she would go for bagels and this cake en route to school. Thought I would let you know, in case any of this makes you even happier. Food is like music, and takes us back to certain places instantly. The fond memories of food and music, money simply cannot buy.

I just made this recipe as my boyfriend has a fond memory of this cake…well!!!!! Wow…it made him shed a tear. Food memories are the best memories and this recipe nailed it! He said the combo of coffee and this cake left tones of butterscotch. He has gone quite territorial over the finished cake and doesn’t want me to share with neighbours, as originally planned. Hahaha.
