Watermelon Smash with Strawberries

July 8, 2020

A watermelon smash made with fresh strawberries and watermelon juice is like summer in a glass. Similar to a spritzer, with the addition of vodka, plus the addition of fresh mint makes this a refreshing drink, perfect on a hot day.

White Wine Spritzer with Blood Orange Soda

December 28, 2019

A white wine spritzer is the perfect party drink any time of the year. It’s light and refreshing, which makes it a great cocktail for holidays when you are enjoying parties, but don’t want to overindulge. Wine spritzers are a great choice if you are trying to watch your calorie intake while still being able to enjoy a wine cocktail.

Blood oranges are in season during the winter months, as is most citrus. If you can’t find blood oranges, regular oranges or cara cara oranges make a great substitute.

How to make a restaurant-style Bloody Mary recipe

December 22, 2019

The Bloody Mary. It is THE quintessential brunch beverage, yet I only have them at a restaurant. Brunch and Bloody Mary’s go hand in hand. We are going to make a restaurant-style bloody mary recipe at home. I made a killer batch of bloody mary’s last weekend and they were hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had.

First things first, we are making it from scratch. The difference is remarkable when you don’t use a store-bought mix. The drink tastes MUCH fresher and brighter, which if I’m being perfectly honest, can be dangerous.

I’m usually a two drink max kind of girl and I had two drinks in no time flat. Consider yourself warned, because they go down very easily. This is the best bloody mary recipe and one you’ll want to make over and over.

Mint Julep Kombucha Cocktail Recipe

April 16, 2018

Mint Julep Kombucha Cocktail
This Mint Julep Kombucha Cocktail recipe has 4 ingredients and takes 5 minutes to make.  Try this twist on a classic mint julep while you’re watching the derby or when you just want to wear a big hat and feel a little fancy.

A kombucha cocktail? I already know what you’re thinking.  Before you roll your eyes at me, let me plead my case.  I’ve been on a bit of a kombucha kick for awhile now.  So much so that I’ve started brewing my own at home, which lead me to wonder what else I could do with it.   If you are unfamiliar with kombucha, let me explain what it is.  It’s fermented tea.  Does that mean it’s alcoholic on its own?  Barely.  The alcohol content is so low (we’re talking about a half of one percent), that it isn’t an issue for me.  Clearly, since I just threw a shot of bourbon in it.

Dinner Divas Weekly Menu Plan: Week 8

June 9, 2017

Dinner Divas

Dinner Divas is back!  Can you believe it’s already the second week of June?!  I can not.  The weeks are FLYING by and I feel like I need to press “pause” so I can catch up.   Although it isn’t officially summer, it is in full swing here.  Summer in Florida means rain and lots of it.  I can’t complain though, because it’s better than three feet of snow in January.

How it works:  Every Friday morning, a new meal plan will show up in your email.  It will consist of 5 dinner options, plus 2 extras.  Those two extras could be side dishes, dessert, drinks, etc.   The Dinner Divas weekly menu plans will feature (mostly) healthy, seasonal foods that don’t take all day to prepare.   Getting the weekly menu delivered to your inbox on Friday morning gives you the chance to make your shopping list and get organized for the week ahead.  We’ve got so much good stuff this week!  I’d love to hear from you & see your creations!  Post a pic using #DinnerDivas and tag @pookspantry!   I hope this weekly menu plan provides inspiration and makes life a little easier… one meal at a time.

Rosé Sangria with Summer Fruits

June 5, 2017

Rosé sangria is my summer drink.  It’s light, crisp and enjoyed chilled to combat the heat of summer.  This is a great way to enjoy a less expensive bottle of rosé.  Filled with berries, stone fruit and lemons, it is the ultimate summer sangria.
