Easy Classic Gingerbread Cake

White Scribbled Underline

This easy classic gingerbread cake recipe is my grandmother’s recipe.  It’s the perfect holiday treat to have on hand when friends and family come around.

-- Flour -- Unsalted butter -- Molasses -- Dark brown sugar -- Eggs -- Brewed tea -- Ginger -- Cloves -- Cinnamon -- Nutmeg -- Sea salt -- Baking soda -- Baking powder

This gingerbread cake has a nice amount of gingerbread flavor without being overpowering - it's absolutely delicious!

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt.   Set aside.

Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs and beat until incorporated.   Add molasses and tea. Mix until just combined.

Add flour mixture and beat until combined. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 35 - 40 minutes, or until tester comes out clean.

Quick and easy, gingerbread sheet cake is the perfect thing to bring to a gathering this holiday season.

It's so good, all it needs is a dusting of powdered sugar.   A dollop of barely sweetened whipped cream wouldn’t be bad, either.

I hope you enjoy this cake recipe as much as we do.  This Newfoundland gingerbread cake recipe is a classic and much loved by our family.
