Strawberry Purée
- 2 cups strawberries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Strawberry Sangria
- 1 bottle sparkling rosé wine
- 1/2 cup Cointreau or Triple Sec
- 1/2 cup strawberry purée recipe above
- 2 cups strawberries hulled and sliced
- 1 lemon sliced into rounds
- 1 lime sliced into rounds
Make strawberry purée: In a small sauce pot, combine 2 cups strawberries, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Cook on medium low heat, until strawberries start to release their juice, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat to cool slightly.
Blend until smooth and set aside to cool completely.
Make Strawberry Sangria: In a large pitcher, combine cointreau, strawberry purée, strawberries, lemon and lime slices.
Pour sparkling rosé into pitcher and give the sangria a quick stir to combine.
Serve immediately over lots of ice.
If you want an ultra smooth puree, you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve, scraping the purée back and forth with a rubber spatula. Discard solids left in strainer.
You can make the sangria ahead of time, but the sparkling wine will lose it's "oomph". If you need to make it ahead, use regular rosé instead of sparkling so it doesn't taste flat.
