Strawberry Simple Syrup
- 1 1/2 pints strawberries washed and hulled
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
Lemonade Iced Tea
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup lemon juice
- 4 - 6 tea bags
Steep tea bags in 4 cups boiling water for 6 - 8 minutes (brew times will vary depending on tea used).
Remove tea bags and refrigerate tea for an hour to cool.
In a small sauce pot, combine sugar and water to make simple syrup. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until dissolved (about 5 minutes).
Remove from heat, cool to room temperature.
In a blender, combine strawberries and simple syrup. Blend until smooth.
Add lemon juice and strawberry simple syrup to brewed tea. Stir to combine.
Serve over ice!
I make this drink a little strong because I pour it over a glass full of ice. If you prefer it less so, add an additional cup or two of water to the pitcher to make it a bit weaker.
If you are in a hurry, you can cool the tea in an ice bath: Set tea inside of a bowl of ice water, stirring occasionally to cool. Make sure your container of tea has a flat bottom so it doesn't tip over and spill!
