Ingredients

Strawberry Simple Syrup

  • 1 ½ pints strawberries washed and hulled
  • 1 cup sugar 250mL
  • 2 cups water 500mL

Lemonade Iced Tea

  • 4 cups water 1000mL
  • 1 cup lemon juice 250mL / from about 4 medium lemons
  • 5 tea bags

Instructions

  • Steep tea bags in 4 cups boiling water for 6 minutes. (brew times will vary depending on tea used).
  • Remove tea bags and refrigerate tea for an hour to cool.
  • In a small sauce pot, combine sugar and water to make simple syrup.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until dissolved (about 5 minutes).
  • Remove from heat, cool to room temperature.
  • In a blender, combine strawberries and simple syrup. Blend until smooth.
  • Add lemon juice and strawberry simple syrup to brewed tea. Stir to combine.
  • Serve over ice!

Notes

  • I make this drink a little strong because I pour it over a glass full of ice. If you prefer it less so, add an additional cup or two of water to the pitcher to make it a bit weaker.
  • If you are in a hurry, you can cool the tea in an ice bath: Set tea inside of a bowl of ice water, stirring occasionally to cool. Make sure your container of tea has a flat bottom so it doesn't tip over and spill!
