- 1 bottle white wine *see notes
- ½ cup Cointreau
- 1 cup peach nectar or pure peach juice
- ½ cup simple syrup or, to taste, optional *see note
- ½ liter peach seltzer water
- 3 peaches
- 4 plums
- 1 cup cherries
- 1 lemon sliced (optional)
- 1 lime
Make the simple syrup by combining ½ cup water with ½ cup sugar. Bring to simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved. Cool completely. (this can be done ahead of time)
Slice 2 peaches, 2 plums, 1 lemon, and 1 lime. Pit cherries, and set aside. Reserve the remaining fruit for serving.
Add wine, Cointreau, peach nectar, simple syrup (if using), and half of the fruit to the pitcher, give it a good stir and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
When ready to serve, add ice and fresh fruit (peaches, plums, cherries, lemon and lime) to each glass.
Pour sangria into glasses, then top with seltzer water, give it a quick stir, and garnish with fresh herbs, if using.
- Sauvignon Blanc is my preferred wine for this. You can also go with a white Rioja, or a Pinot Grigio.
- If you have the time, let the sangria sit in the refrigerator all day or overnight. This will help infuse it with all of the luscious fruit juices.
- The simple syrup is optional. Personally, I don't use it because I don't like very sweet sangria. I have friends who LOVE a sweet sangria. Add it to your personal tastes.
