White Wine Spritzer with Blood Orange Soda

December 28, 2019

A white wine spritzer is the perfect party drink any time of the year. It’s light and refreshing, which makes it a great cocktail for holidays when you are enjoying parties, but don’t want to overindulge. Wine spritzers are a great choice if you are trying to watch your calorie intake while still being able to enjoy a wine cocktail.

Blood oranges are in season during the winter months, as is most citrus. If you can’t find blood oranges, regular oranges or cara cara oranges make a great substitute.

Spicy Sauteed Broccolini with Citrus Vinaigrette

April 9, 2018

Sauteed broccolini is one of my favorite vegetables. This version, tossed in a warm citrus vinaigrette and dusted with red pepper flakes is my vegetable side of choice these days. I can’t get enough of it.

Small florets sit atop long, thin stems, that’s how you know you’ve gotten your hands on some broccolini. Ready in less than 15 minutes, this easy and healthy side is packed with flavor and it even got a thumbs up from picky eaters. I deserve a trophy.

Key Lime Pie from scratch

May 1, 2013

Key Lime Pie.   These three little words make me sit on the edge of my seat in anticipation.  In my book, it is one of the most perfect desserts.  The fact that it is ridiculously easy gives it major bonus points.
Growing up, I don’t think I’d even heard of key lime pie.  We had apple, peach, strawberry-rhubarb, blueberry, pecan, pumpkin, lemon meringue, chocolate cream, but never key lime.

Chirmol

April 26, 2013

As many of you are fully aware, I have an exploding tomato population.  I went a bit “Little House on the Prairie” thinking I needed to sow all my seeds to get me through the long, hard winter on the farm apparently.  Well, now…  I am reaping what I have sown.   PUN. FULLY. INTENDED.

It’s mass chaos back there.  I think the tomatoes get together in some sort of secret society at night while I’m sleeping, plotting to overthrow me.  One day I may wake up to them all crouched down waiting to pounce (think: Lord of the Flies).  OK, clearly I’ve gone off on a tangent……
